Xhekaj was sent off for the second time in a row after a dirty hit on Stützle

The animosity between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators turned up a notch, probably two, during Tuesday’s preseason meeting at the Bell Centre, and Arber Xhekaj helped add fuel to the fire.

The Habs defender got into trouble due to an unfair hit on attacker Tim Stützle in the second period. As he drove into the Montreal area, he hit him late in his blind spot. Senators captain Brady Tkachuk immediately pounced on the attacker, but the referees quickly intervened.

Xhekaj then went to the dressing room for the rest of the evening after receiving a major penalty and a match misconduct penalty. Number 72 is far from having a glorious training camp: On Saturday he was also excluded from the meeting after he wanted to fight with Cédric Paré of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
