The actions of Panthers defenseman Radko Gudas during the Jan. 19 game against the Canadiens left their mark on the Montreal dressing room.
Gudas had notably gone after Kirby Dach and intentionally shot him in the foot and kneed him down. The tall Czech full-back took damage in a number of places in what was overall a very solid match and the CH had him seriously crooked in the throat.
Our reporter Renaud Lavoie returned to this episode on Thursday’s JiC ahead of a new game between the Canadians and the Panthers. He specifically mentioned that Canadiens’ hardy defender Arber Xhekaj was keen to find the Panthers’ back with a long history of questionable gestures.
“Arber Xhekaj told me: ‘Radko Gudas, I’ll take care of it personally next time we meet him. Because he had done things… it didn’t make sense,'” he said.
“I’m sure the Habs players were still boiling the next day,” he added, noting that there could be more retaliation in the upcoming game, although Xhekaj has since found himself on the injured list.
