Mathilde Gremaud took 4th place in the Big Air event at the X-Games in Aspen on Friday night. Freiburg missed the podium by one point.
Mathilde Gremaud, bronze medalist in this discipline at the Olympic Games in Beijing, received 84 points for summing up the top two of her five jumps. Bronze went to Briton Kristy Muir, 5th at the Big Air Games 2022. Sarah Höfflin (67 points) from Geneva took 6th place, as she did in Beijing.
This competition was dominated by Megan Oldham (91 points) and Tess Ledeux (90). The 21-year-old Canadian, fourth in recent games, made the difference thanks to a third vault that earned her the maximum of 50 points: she performed the first triple cork (three off-axis turns) in history for a woman in competition .
Money for Scherrer
Last year’s bronze medalist in the halfpipe in Beijing, Jan Scherrer also won silver in the snowboarding superpipe on Friday in Colorado. The St. Gallois only had to admit defeat to the Australian Scotty James.
Jan Scherrer takes his second podium at the prestigious X-Games after finishing 3rd in 2020. He couldn’t do anything against Scotty James, who triumphed for the fifth time in the Aspen Superpipe and is more than three lengths behind record holder Shaun Weiß.
