William Trudeau’s Meteoric Rise

As the Canadians’ fourth-round pick in the 2021 draft, Quebecer William Trudeau is taking the lead in the American League this year with the Laval Rocket.

The 20-year-old left-hander caught the eye of Voltigeurs de Drummondville general manager Philippe Boucher, who praised him on Thursday’s JiC. Boucher, a former NHL defenseman, saw Trudeau in action against the Belleville Senators the day before and seems more confident than ever about his potential.

“He did the little things well,” he said first.

“The progression is stunning, he’s playing on the power play, at a disadvantage he’s played half the game,” he added. If he continues like this, we’ll have to think about him next year or the year after that (in Montreal).

He even thinks another NHL team might be interested in his services as CH already has several top-class left-backs.

Boucher also said he was impressed by the outfit of Rocket forward Joel Teasdale, “a man of character” who could deserve a call-up at the big club this season.
