What is open or closed on Canada Day in Ottawa and Outaouais?

In Ottawa, all OC Transpo services, as well as those of Para Transpo on the 1st line, are freeum July to July 2, 4 a.m.

Buses and O-Train Line 1 follow the special Canada Day schedule and service frequency is increased in the evenings. 1um While bus schedules vary in July depending on the route, line 1 of the light rail operates from 6am to 2am.

On July 3 the buses will follow the Saturday timetable and line 1 will follow the weekday timetable and will operate on July 4 from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

The OC Transpo Customer Service Center at the Rideau Center will be open Friday, June 30 from 9:30am to 9:00pm, Saturday, June 1stum July, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 2, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. OC Transpo’s Lost and Found office is located at: Heartwood House, is closed on Monday 3 July.

Para Transpo’s services follow the holiday timetable, 1um July, but Regular trips scheduled on Saturday will be automatically cancelled.

Sunday service applies to the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) and users have free access to the entire network. However, with several inter-provincial bridges and major arteries closed to traffic, the public transit company only offers service on the Gatineau waterfront. All lines that normally serve downtown Ottawa have a terminus on Rue Laurier, near Boulevard Maisonneuve.

For Transcollines rural public transport in Outaouais, service will be reduced on June 30th. Landlines are not in service. Users are invited to use the on-demand service (TAD), which operates according to the regular timetable.

All city of Ottawa parking rules and restrictions apply on Saturday.

In Gatineau, parking is free on municipal holidays.

On the Quebec side are the branches of SAQ are open except for those located in a mall which will be closed on Saturday 1stum July. However, all branches of the SQDC are closed.

On the Ontario side, most LCBO stores are open on Fridays and some stores have extended hours. However, the branches will be closed on Saturday 1stum July. Some LCBO Express Counters may maintain their usual hours of operation provided they have received approval from their municipality. an LCBO spokeswoman explained via email. The branches will resume their usual schedule from Sunday 2nd July.

All the beer shops from Ottawa open their doors on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

All branches of the Ottawa Public Library and the City of Gatineau will be closed on the 1ste July.

In Quebec, retail stores must close their doors to the public on Saturday 1stum July 2023, on the occasion of Canada Day. However, food establishments of all sizes are allowed to open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.um July.

In Ottawa, the vast majority of grocery stores are closed with a few exceptions.

The Promenades de Gatineau are closed on Saturday while the Rideau Center is open from 10am to 6pm.

The Canadian History Museum, the Canadian Children’s Museum and the Canadian War Museum are open Saturdays from 9am to 7pm.

Canada’s Agriculture and Food Museums, Canada’s Aerospace Museums and Canada’s Science and Technology Museums are open from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.

At the municipal level in Ottawa, all arts centers, theaters, galleries, archives and museums will be closed on Monday 3 July.

In Gatineau, the Montcalm Gallery will be closed on Saturday and Monday 3 July. Espace Pierre-Debain is also closed on the 1stum July. The box offices of the Center culturel du Vieux-Aylmer and the Théâtre de l’Île are also closed due to Canada Day.

Waste collections are operated in the Outaouais as well as in Ottawa.

In Ottawa, the dump path is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Gatineau, the Aéroparc eco-centre at 26 rue Pierre-Ménard will be open on Saturday 1stum July according to the usual schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., as well as at the eco-centre at boulevard de la Carrière 860 and at the transhipment center.

In Ottawa, many indoor pools and arenas, as well as recreation and community centers, are open but operating on a modified schedule.

Britannia Beaches, Bay mooneys and Petrie Island are open on Saturday 1stum July and is supervised from 12 to 7 p.m.

On the Gatineau side, the outdoor pools, beaches and water features are open on the 1stum July. For more details on community-level activities, outdoor centers, parks, and pavilions, it is recommended to call 311 or consult the city’s website.

In Ottawa, the city’s 3-1-1 call center is open but only handles urgent matters. The customer service centers at City Hall, Ben Franklin Place, 580 Terry Fox Drive and 255 Centrum Boulevard, and the city’s Provincial Offenses Court, 100 Constellation Drive, are closed. This also applies to the Business Licensing Center at 735 Industrial Avenue and the City of Ottawa Sterilization Clinic at 26 Concourse Gate.

In Gatineau, all service centers and the Maison du citoyen will be closed on Monday 3 July.

Canada Post will not be picking up or delivering mail on July 3rd. Post offices will be closed on Saturday 1st July and Monday 3rd July. However, some privately run post offices depend on the opening times of the host company.
