Imagine if Patrick Roy managed the Canadian and said that he doesn’t listen to criticism from fans or the media because he doesn’t think he can get any advice from them.
Imagine if Dominique Ducharme was leading the Canadiens and the team was still as atrocious defensively as it has been since the start of the year.
It wouldn’t sink like butter in the pan.
First, Patrick Roy would have been publicly trashed because many people would say that he still just wants to get his own way and that he never listens to anyone.
Then Dominique Ducharme’s coaching abilities would come into question as the young defense continues to show promise but doesn’t really improve.
But with Martin St-Louis it’s all fine.
It would be different
I have no problem with the Canadiens coach saying he doesn’t listen to the “noise” of criticism directed at him. Actually, all coaches say that every time. What surprises me is that fans praise him because he says so.
I think it would be different if it wasn’t Martin St-Louis. And I understand that he deserves this status, despite everything he has achieved as a player. But that shouldn’t exempt him from all criticism.

It was two great wins for Montreal this weekend. The Canadian is back in the mix after four defeats.
And things could continue to go well against Seattle, Washington and Pittsburgh.
It’s better. Because after that it’s the surprising Flames, the Devils and the Leafs.
In short, there is a risk of another crash and the CH could move off course mix before Christmas. Exactly what everyone predicted for the team… except in Montreal.
“You are not a game”
When Martin St-Louis said that being criticized motivated him, I told myself that he must have been great at playing “You’re Not a Game” when he was younger.
If it helps the team, here it is:
Martin St-Louis isn’t about to find a way to keep the Canadiens from being one of the teams that takes the most shots in every game in the league.
Martin St-Louis is unable to improve the team in the 5v5 system so that it is not one of the worst differences in the league and at the same strength is not one of the least threatening clubs.
Martin St-Louis is unable to win most of his games with three and a half and four number 6 defenders in his club (due to Guhle’s injury).
Well, my point is that Martin St-Louis can have all the qualities in the world, but he won’t turn water into wine. And he’s never done that before as a coach. He cannot perform miracles. Especially not with this orientation.
Despite all the motivation in the world, the relentlessness, the passion and the spirit of the Forum, things can’t be much better this year. It was written in the sky, but the blue, white and red smoke coming from the chimney of the Vatican Bell hid it.
I find it difficult to understand why many people are surprised by what is happening even though logically it should happen. As if we were surprised that water falls from the sky when it rains.
Good! It begins!
You know the slightly macho joke of the man who asks his wife to get him a beer before the start and she brings it to him while wondering what start he’s talking about. And after the fourth beer, his wife starts telling him that it doesn’t make sense for him to drink four beers before dinner. “Good! Here we go!” he replies.
I’m afraid it will start between the amateurs and the CH. If Montreal had lost its two games this weekend, Quebec would have been dismal on Monday. This impatience would really convince some of the believers. And that was despite the fact that there was nothing to suggest that the team would be much better this year.
The Canadian’s management was criticized for failing to promise anything about reaching the playoffs last season. In my opinion it was a great PR move.
Aim at the mix This year it was even worse. I understand that it would have shocked fans not to aim for anything, but I fear it will be even worse if the Canadian is no longer in contention in December.
