Victoriaville and Sherbrooke are top cities for doing business in Canada

According to a ranking by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), Victoriaville and Sherbrooke are among the top 20 “entrepreneurial communities” in the country.

Victoriaville is Quebec champion and sits second in the rankings, while Sherbrooke is 19th.

Looking only at cities with more than 150,000 residents, Sherbrooke comes in second, just behind Kelowna, British Columbia.

“We knew we were one of the best places in Canada to start or grow a business and this ranking demonstrates that powerfully. […] This enviable ranking shows us that our efforts are bearing fruit and that we don't want to stop,” said Sherbrooke Mayor Steve Lussier.

“Since SMEs are the backbone of Quebec's economy, municipalities have an interest in adopting measures that support them, whether from a tax or regulatory perspective. Although there are always improvements to be made, we would like to highlight the efforts of local governments that are working to create a business climate that is conducive to the growth of SMEs,” recalls Martine Hébert, senior vice-president and representative of the CFIB’s national spokesperson .
