Vegas doesn’t like CH at all

Oddsmakers in Vegas expect the Montreal Canadiens to be by far the worst team in the Atlantic Division next season.

They were clearly not convinced by the inaction of General Manager Kent Hughes on July 1. The hockey player opted for caution by simply hiring Quebec striker Alex Barré-Boulet, thereby giving a vote of confidence to the next generation of his team.

According to the VegasInsider websiteCH’s odds of winning the Atlantic are +7,000, meaning a bettor would win $7,000 for every $100 invested.

For comparison: The Buffalo Sabres’ odds are +1500. The gap between CH and the other teams in its section is therefore considerable.

The Florida Panthers (+185) are the favorites on the Atlantic, ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs (+340) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (+480).

The Habs finished eighth and last in the 2023-2024 Atlantic Section with a record of 30-36-16, for a harvest of 76 points, two points behind the Ottawa Senators.

The team did not make any major additions in the offseason, but can rely on the return of Kirby Dach, who was injured for most of last season.
