Vegas and Seattle will compete at the 2024 Winter Classic

NEW YORK (January 2, 2023) – The NHL on Monday announced details of the 2024 Discover Winter Classic. The outdoor game will be played Monday, January 1, 2024 at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, featuring the Seattle Kraken and the Vegas Golden Knights.

The game will be broadcast exclusively on TVA Sports and Sportsnet in Canada and on the TNT network in the United States.

The two youngest franchises in the NHL will therefore be competing at the Winter Classic 2024. The Kraken, who played their debut season in 2021-22, will play their first outdoor game of the regular season and will become the 29th team to participate in such an event.

This is the second open-air game for the Golden Knights, who entered the league in the 2017/18 season. In their first outdoor game on February 20, 2021, the Golden Knights lost 3-2 to the Colorado Avalanche at the 2021 Lake Tahoe NHL away games at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort.

The 2024 Winter Classic continues the tradition started by the league in 2008 of hosting an outdoor regular season game on New Year’s Day. The 2024 edition marks the 16th anniversary of the first Winter Classic to be played in Buffalo.

T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, opened in 1999 and has earned a reputation as one of the premier sports stadiums. With views of downtown Seattle, breathtaking sunsets over Puget Sound and unobstructed field views from every seat in the stadium, T-Mobile Park offers fans an unparalleled experience. In addition to the Mariners games, many other sports and entertainment events were held here.

More details about the Winter Classic 2024, including ticket information and game start time, will be announced at a later date.
