This is the MMA event. For the first time in its history, the UFC will set up its octagon in France, in the heart of the Accor Arena in Paris. Ciryl Gane, the first French woman to hold an interim belt, failed to become the undisputed champion last January. Earlier this year he suffered the first loss of his career when he lost to Cameroonian Francis Ngannou in a fight called UFC 270. Nine months later, the La Roche-sur-Yon native appears to have digested his disappointment. This Saturday, September 3rd, the one who trained at the MMA Factory in Paris and officiates in the heavyweight category meets Australian Tai Tuivasa. As a favorite, Ciryl Gane still has to be wary of an opponent with a devastating punch.
The “good kid” vs. “Bam Bam”
In front of an audience that will be convinced of her cause, No. 1 heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane (10-1) is hoping to clear things up and can count on her strengths: “Ciryl has characteristics that are not typical for a heavyweight. He is fast. He moves well and a lot. A fairly rare feature in this category”, remembers Télé-Loisirs Xavier Foupa Pokamformer MMA disciple and consultant for The team channel. To defeat his opponent, the Frenchman has to do it again “count on his punch, but also because he’s so good at it, build his fight and develop a real strategy”. Compared to him, Tai Tuivasa remains within the limit with six ranked wins. At 29, the Australian is third in the Challenger Score category (behind Gane and American Stipe Miocic): “His two main strengths are his punch and his wits. He’s not afraid of a fight and he’s very resilient,” warns Xavier Foupa-Pokam, who advises him against it “to take Ciryl Gane lightly because the tricolor really has combat intelligence and a technical palette that can make all the difference”.
