The Canadian Armed Forces invites the general public to discover its facilities through two different activities on October 27 and 28. For the first time, the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School is hosting a large-scale Recruit for a Day event, while the Royal Military College welcomes visitors to its traditional campus open day.
After immersing themselves in the world of the military, recruits spend a day getting a good overview of what to expect in the Canadian Armed Forces. The route, which will take place on Friday October 27th between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Garrison Saint-Jean, is divided into five stations. The goal is to make the experience as realistic as possible.
Visitors will discover the Shooting Simulator, a state-of-the-art space that is the pride of the School of Leadership and Recruits’ new academic pavilion. They then take part in two practical scenarios. One will focus on first aid; the other on bacteriological, chemical, radiological and nuclear warfare.
Physical fitness is also the focus of a series of tests and a control exercise. Finally, the recruits can sample military cuisine around a food buffet for a day.
Right time
The Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School is a must for anyone who wants to become a soldier. “Recruit Day is a new way to experience military life,” said Julie Genest, public affairs coordinator. Our goal is to encourage retention during basic lessons. The activity is designed to tell the correct time. »
The day is aimed at anyone interested in a military career. However, you must have confirmed your attendance by emailing Recruiting Sergeant Patrick Boulanger at patrick.boulanger @forces.gc.ca before October 24th. The entrance is at address 25, chemin du Grand-Bernier Sud.
Open doors
The Royal Military College of Saint-Jean is also preparing to receive 15 visitors on Saturday, October 28, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Rue Jacques-Cartier Nord. The open day provides the opportunity to view the campus facilities. You can also discover the four pillars on which the training is based: studies, bilingualism, military training and physical fitness.
Managers, professors and students will be on site to answer questions and present training programs for colleges and universities. Those wishing to participate can confirm their attendance by contacting Captain Sonia Ménard at sonia.menard9@ forces.gc.ca by October 27.
