Too weak for the league

The team is in transition. His infirmary is overcrowded. The survivors are dominated.

The Canadian?

NO. CF Montreal. Except that in MLS there is no end-of-season draw to win the best 17-year-old player in the world as a consolation prize. Damage. The bleu-blanc-noir would need it.

On Saturday night, the Montreal eleven offered a heartbreaking spectacle. Once again. He lost 1-0 at home to DC United, a harmless little kitten in the league. Montrealers had no cohesion. At times it reminded me of my snow soccer games in the fourth grade school yard. And again I think our game was better organized than CF’s.

During the first half, the CF attack could be summed up in one tactic that was repeated ad nauseam. The Counterattack. It was all about kicking the ball as far and hard as possible and then crossing your fingers for striker Chinonso Offor to collect it first. Revealer: It didn’t happen often. And when Offor got there, there was no teammate around to support him.

As this strategy came to nothing, the CF tried to open the game down the wings. Vain. Head coach Hernán Losada sent all his attacking substitutes into the game, to no avail. The club collected a sixth shutout in seven games.

This is not only the worst start to the season in its history, but also one of the worst in MLS history. The players left the field at Saputo Stadium to well-deserved boos.

A positive element of defeat?

I dig, I scratch, I find nothing.

Hernán Losada said after the game that at least his side were competitive until the end. Yes. Maybe for the rating. But overall the CF was dominated. Pay ? Washington has won 68 duels and 14 tackles. Montreal: 36 duels and 2 duels.

Losada, who was hired this winter, already seems to have run out of solutions. It’s not a good sign. He expects things to improve when the injured Romell Quioto returns.Okay, but the Honduran forward won’t save the franchise. Let me remind you that even with Quioto in the line-up, CF Montreal has been eliminated four times in five games.

After the departures of Djordje Mihailovic, Alistair Johnston, Ismaël Koné, Joaquín Torres and Kei Kamara, then with the injuries of Quioto, Samuel Piette, Matko Miljević, James Pantemis, George Campbell, Mason Toye and Lassi Lappalainen, CF Montreal are eliminated too weak for the league.

He no longer has enough talent or depth to prevail against his opponents – even weak ones like DC United.

Sporting director Olivier Renard brought in two reinforcements this week. However, his budget remains limited and he has limited trading options this time of year. At the same time, the team’s recovery plan must not depend solely on waiting for the injured to return.

Patience has never been part of Impact/CF Montreal’s DNA. Hernán Losada must find solutions very quickly with the staff at his disposal, otherwise…

What else?

Otherwise he may no longer be in office on Mother’s Day.
