Together for Mental Health in Shawinigan

COMMUNITY. This Saturday, October 7, the population of Shawinigan is invited to show solidarity during the roadblocks organized at the Phénix ECJ Center Mauricie / Mékinac. The road closures will take place at various strategic points in Shawinigan from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Let’s remember: Phénix ECJ Center Mauricie / Mékinac has been helping people struggling with mental health problems take control of their lives for 40 years. Whether through individual interventions, support activities or psychosocial rehabilitation programs, Shawinigan and Mékinac have a workforce available for adults and youth ages 12 to 17.

According to Statistics Canada, several mental health problems such as major depressive episodes, bipolar disorder and generalized anxiety disorder have been increasing for a decade, well before the pandemic. The Public Health Agency of Canada also points to worsening mental health among Canadians, particularly among young people.

Citizens are encouraged to donate generously during these road closures this Saturday, October 7th. An online donation is also possible via the Symplik platform.

Those interested in volunteering should contact the Phénix team at 819-539-1980. For more information, visit lephenix.org, call 819-539-1980 or center-mauricie@lephenix.org for Shawinigan and 418-365-5762 or mekinac@lephenix.org for Mékinac.
