The event brings together the three winning teams from across the country, as well as the Titans, holders of the Russell Cup and host team.
The Titans will notably find the team that eliminated them in the playoffs just over two weeks ago, the Bradford Rattlers.
“The team that we present at the end of the week is stronger than the ranking suggests. Can we win the cup? The formula says yes. Winning a best-of-7 streak is a different challenge than winning a game at the right time. We’re not the favourites, but with a squad where the players are all healthy and playing with adrenaline at home, I won’t fall off my chair if we cause a stir,” said General Manager and Titans Operations Francois Harrisson.
Each team plays three round matches and the two teams with the best record meet in the final. The competition runs until Sunday.
Note that the pirates of Ville-Marie, the titans’ rivals, came very close to being there. They sadly lost in the Finals to the Bradford Rattlers in five games in the North Division.
“We didn’t expect it to be the pirates. Yes it would have been fun to see the Pirates in terms of regional energy and revenue because we imagine the arena would have been 100% full for all games but we waited for the Rattlers and we weren’t surprised seeing them the Rattlers,” concludes François Harrisson.
On Thursday at 8 p.m. the Titans take on the High Prairie Red Wings.
