The Laval Rocket’s losing streak continued again on Wednesday evening when the Canadiens were beaten 5-2 by the Belleville Senators.
This game, played at Place Bell, was the eighth in a row that head coach Jean-François Houle’s team had missed. This is the longest losing streak of their season so far.
In today’s duel, goalkeeper Kevin Mandolese saved 28 of the Rockets’ 30 shots. The Quebecer was thwarted by throws from Riley McKay and Lucas Condotta. The two Rocket representatives hit the mark at the end of the third period, when the matter was already lost.
Egor Sokolov, Garrett Pilon (twice), Tyler Kleven and Lassi Thomson were the top scorers. They all defeated Strauss Mann, who had to fire 27 shots.
Defenseman Arber Xhekaj played his first game since moving to the American League. The Ontario native maintained a -3 lead and had two shots on goal. The attackers Joshua Roy and Philippe Maillet also ended their evening at -3.
The Rocket will try to snap out of their torpor on Friday night when the Hartford Wolf Pack visits Laval.
