SPORTS. Rosalie Breton of Saint-Bernard and Luc-Antoine Labbé of Sainte-Marie are among 27 young elite and provincial ice hockey players who have received scholarships from the Aléo Foundation and the Montreal Canadiens thanks to their senior year.
Lévis Knights U18-AAA goaltender Luc-Antoine Labbé ended last season with a record of 18 wins, 7 losses, 1 shutout and a save rate of .911 in 26 regular-season games. Drafted by the Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL in July 2022, 17-year-old Mariverain is attending Pointe-Lévy High School’s Secondary School physical education program. He already wants to stay in the world of sports after his studies and would like to work as a fitness trainer for a sports organization.
As for Rosalie Breton, she is a defender with the As de Québec team and helped her team to a first-place finish in the regular season by being named AAA Under-18 Most Valuable Player at the LHEQ Gala. The 17-year-old from St. Bernard finished 4th with Team Quebec at the Prince Edward Island Canada Games in February 2023 and signed up with the Cégep Limoilou Titans at collegiate-level D1 for the 2023-2024 season. She is currently studying in secondary school 5 in the Sport-études program at the Collège de Lévis.
The Montreal Canadiens Scholarship Program is in its 16th yeare Edition makes it possible to support the best next-generation ice hockey players. The 27 recipients are between the ages of 15 and 17 and were selected for both their athletic and academic achievements.
In order to support the preparation of student athletes after their sports career and the pursuit of their studies, one hockey player from each of the eight U18 AAA women’s teams of the Ligue de Hockey d’Excellence du Québec (LHEQ) and one hockey player from each of the 15 men’s teams of the U18 AAA Hockey Development League was selected.
