President of the Union of Workers of CHSLD
Plaisance des Îles, Valérie Bénard denounces the government’s inaction. We waited two years to be privately signed. We have not received any news from the government in this regard. Our employees are discouraged, depressed. There are many employees who have resigned to work elsewhere to work in the public sector
explains Valerie Benard.
The union organization argues that its members are currently disadvantaged.
Her salary, pension plan, bonuses and group insurance would not be on par with her public sector peers.
It prevents us from hiring people, nurses, nursing assistants, orderlies. We are very private because of the public sector
notes Valérie Ménard.
The union therefore regrets the loss of workers and the difficult recruitment.
There is a huge shortage of staff. We don’t have a regular nurse, we lack auxiliary nurses, we lack favored companions
illustrates them.

Interviewed Minister for Senior Citizens
A petition by almost 50 employees of the CHSLD
urges Îles-de-la-Madeleine member Joël Arseneau to intervene with Quebec. The elected official claims to have brought the issue to the attention of Senior Citizens Minister Sonia Bélanger at a meeting last Wednesday.
I’m counting on her working on the agreement in the first few weeks of the new year. Obviously she didn’t have all the information about where the file had gone because it had already been started by her predecessor. Based on my knowledge of the files, I have not received any details as to when the first stage of the agreement will be reached
