The teams revolve around Arber Xhekaj

Ever since the Montreal Canadiens demoted Arber Xhekaj to the American League, teams in the National League have been curious.

They wonder whether the CH could now show greater openness to trading the robust and unique defender.

At least that's how it is was reported Saturday by noted Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman.

“From what I've heard, teams have been calling the Canadiens and asking, 'Well, if he's down.' [à Laval]“Does that mean your position has changed and he is available?” And as far as I understood, it was a resounding “no” from the Canadians,” the journalist explained.

Xhekaj forms a duo with Logan Mailloux and is playing good hockey with the Rockets, who have 11 points, including three goals, in 17 American League games. He also has a differential of +3.

The one nicknamed “Sheriff” is still sowing terror. Last Friday he gave Brennan Saulnier of the Belleville Senators a real beating (see in the video above).

Undrafted, the Hamilton native quickly became a fan favorite in his debut with the Canadiens in the 2022-23 season.
