The Raptors take revenge on the Wizards

Two days after a first duel that ended in favor of the Wizards, Toronto and Washington met on Saturday night for a key Eastern Conference meeting. With Kristaps Porzingis on 12 points and despite already losing eight balls, the players from the capital started the game best in the first quarter (30-26). Toronto won the second quarter to equal at break (53 overall).

The game is still level in the third quarter, even as the Raptors begin to take the lead. The Canadians exploited too many loose balls from Washington (24 in total) to score easy baskets on the counter. The casters counter this junk with a 3-point ability. Delon Wright and Bradley Beal scored 17 points with five award-winning baskets (79-86) in Act III.

So everything will be decided in the last quarter. The Raptors appeared to take control of the game by thirteen points, but the Wizards came back with Porzingis (22 points) chaining three goals in two minutes. Gary Trent Jr. and Fred VanVleet miss behind the arc, allowing Wright to level. VanVleet misses the winning shot again, as does Beal, and we go into overtime (105-105).

This time, in the five extra minutes, Fred VanVleet (25 points) finds the address and sets up two winning baskets. Pascal Siakam finishes with one shot plus errors and the Raptors win 109-116. Result of this victorious double duel: Toronto remains ninth in the Eastern Conference, just ahead of Washington.
