The perfect coach for the Leafs?

The Maple Leafs must find a new general manager in the coming weeks, and often that process brings a new head coach into play as well.

Admittedly, Sheldon Keefe still has his job behind the Leafs’ bench and maybe he will still have it in September, but if the team’s new GM decides instead to put “his man” in that key position, it could be an ideal one Giving candidates who did just that has had great success in the neighboring province: Patrick Roy.

Patrick Lalime and Joël Bouchard argued that with some enthusiasm on Monday on “JiC”.

“You know where I’d like to see it? In Toronto,” Lalime said bluntly of who will give up his place behind the Quebec Remparts bench at the end of the Memorial Cup.

According to him, Roy is “someone who takes the pressure off and takes it off what’s happening elsewhere. Someone who won, who did everything.”

“The message he’s going to convey would be fantastic for me,” the former Senators goalie said afterwards.

“He won in Montreal with the toughest pair of skates in the world,” Bouchard added. He walks into the room and there’s no guy, no one to tell him he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he’s been through it all.

According to the two men, Roy would also bring his share of spice to all Leafs games, especially against the Canadiens…
