The Pays de la Sagouine will open the first Lumina course in Atlantic Canada

In the summer of 2023, the Pays de la Sagouine will inaugurate an enchanted Lumina night trail on its Bouctouche site. Created by Montreal-based multimedia entertainment studio Moment Factory, the light-filled, immersive path will be the 18th in the series and a first in Atlantic Canada.

“The creation of the Lumina night trail in the Pays de la Sagouine is the first step in a major project that aims to pave the way for the next 30 years in the country,” explains Monique Poirier, co-director general of the Pays de la Sagouine . the sagouine.

Lumina Night Walks are a series of immersive experiences that reveal “the outstanding beauty” of a natural site. The adventure captivates the public by inviting them to participate in a narrative experience that combines lighting, projection, special effects, soundscapes and original music.

The design of the Pays de la Sagouine Lumina Night Walk is inspired by Acadian culture and history and the region’s emblematic landscapes. Over the next year, artists and craftsmen from Acadia will collaborate with the Pays de la Sagouine and Moment Factory teams to create the trail.

The route follows a footpath in the forests bordering the Pays de la Sagouine terrain, on dry land. With a length of approx. 1.5 km, the route will be accessible after dark.

This project is made possible by a $35.2 million investment announced in the summer of 2022 by the governments of Canada and New Brunswick; The immersive experience is the first of many projects resulting from this funding that will ensure the future of the Pays de la Sagouine as a tourist destination. Buildings are being built on the mainland, as well as a new pedestrian bridge to get to the Île-aux-Puces and a new interpretation pavilion.
