The Order of Dentists of Quebec welcomes the Government of Canada’s announcement of the new national dental care program, which aims to cover oral care for people with a family income of less than $90,000 per year.
MONTREAL, Dec. 11, 2023 /CNW/ – This program not only represents a significant step forward in improving the oral health of many Canadians, but it also demonstrates an undeniable recognition of the connection between oral health and overall health.
“This recognition of oral health as a critical element of overall health marks a historic turning point. We welcome the federal government’s major investment in breaking down barriers to access to care for the mouth, teeth and surrounding tissues. We will closely monitor discussions between the Quebec government and the federal government to clarify how this program aligns with initiatives already underway in Quebec. Of course, we are ready to contribute to the implementation of any initiative that promotes better oral health for everyone, especially the most vulnerable. » explained Liliane Malczewski, President of the Order of Dentists of Quebec.
Oral health is critical to overall well-being and this initiative represents a significant step towards a more comprehensive approach to health in Canada. We can only be excited. The Order of Dentists of Quebec remains committed to working with government authorities to ensure that dental care remains accessible, effective and meets the highest quality standards for the entire Canadian population.
The implementation modalities for dentists in Quebec will be clarified in several information events organized by the Government of Canada, the details of which will be communicated to members of the Order in the coming weeks.
