As sanctions against members of the political elite continue to stir up public debate, figures are increasingly being excluded from political negotiations. On November 25, the Political Concertation for a Compromise, which was attended by several party leaders and former MPs, published a note announcing the end of any political cooperation with the sanctioned persons concerned.
“In the name of public morality, the bodies constituting the Political Concertation for an Historic Compromise note that the signatories to the Joint Declaration of October 25, 2022 have been rightly or wrongly included in the recently published lists of international sanctions. . Therefore, in order to avoid mergers and speculation in public opinion, any political collaboration with these groups is suspended pending internal decisions and the outcome of appeals exercised or asserted before the courts. It remains self-evident that the right of defense is sacred and the sacrosanct principle of the presumption of innocence must be respected”, we can read in this document signed by Emmanuel Ménard.
In addition, the Political Concertation for a Historic Compromise says it is committed to continuing talks on the urgency of reaching a consensus. This, the note continues, aims to strengthen the interim government to negotiate military cooperation with the international community in support of the legal forces to permanently solve the security problem, provide quick answers to people’s misery and address the major structural problems.
