The first time was devastating for the “Sens”. In turn, Olivier Bjorkstrand, Jared McCann and Justin Schultz moved the ropes. Those three goals in just five shots knocked Anton Forsberg out of his net. The latter gave way to Cam Talbot, who didn’t do much better, ending the game with 14 saves on the 19 shots he faced.

Tim Stutzle’s hat-trick wasn’t enough for the Senators. Brady Tkachuk scored his 14th goal of the season.

The Montreal Canadiens’ next opponents scored four more unanswered goals. The latter has been credited to Daniel Sprong, Matty Beniers, Vince Dunn, and Jordan Eberle.

Andre Burakovsky completed the goal at the end of the game.

The Washington State team will arrive in Montreal confident on Monday after four straight wins.

Mitch Marner hits a big plateau

In Toronto, Mitch Marner scored his 500th point of his career in the Maple Leafs’ 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

The Canadian forward reached that important plateau by retrieving a throw from team-mate Auston Matthews before directing a shot from a tight angle that thwarted goalkeeper Magnus Hellberg. That goal leveled the game in the second half and extended their home game streak to 17.

The rest of the work was done by John Tavares, who scored two goals, including one from the empty net, and Pontus Holmberg.

It was Jake Wallman who blackened the scorers’ list in the first half by scoring the Wings’ only goal.

The Sabers finish the job

In Buffalo, Victor Olofsson played heroes in overtime by giving the Sabers a 6-5 win over the Minnesota Wild.

New York State team fans were very hot during this game. After a 4-2 lead in the middle of the second period, the opposition took the lead in the third period with three unanswered goals.

Little did anyone know that Rasmus Dahlin would score his second goal in less than three minutes into the game, forcing the two teams to continue the clash in overtime.

Moments earlier, Joel Eriksson Ek thought he had scored the winning goal. That net fell minutes after teammate Marcus Foligno equalized.

Olofsson returned to the Sabers and also opened the scoring by firing a shot into the top corner that defeated Minnesota goaltender Marc-André Fleury. Days Thompson with his 31st win of the season and Dylan Cozens also prevailed against the Quebecer.

At wild, Brandon Duhaime, Kirill Kaprizov and Ryan Hartman beat Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
