Climate change has ongoing impacts on our environment and the health of Canadians.
The Public Health Agency of Canada’s Infectious Diseases and Climate Change Program (IDCCP) focuses on preparing and protecting people in Canada from climate-sensitive, foodborne and foodborne zoonotic infectious diseases. The Infectious Diseases and Climate Change Program Fund (IDPCF) funds projects that advance the tracking and surveillance of these diseases, raise awareness among health professionals, and share information and tools to prevent risks to the people of Canada, particularly vulnerable populations to reduce.
The call for proposals for the FPMICC is now open and runs until November 28, 2024. Applicant projects must fall into one of the following climate-sensitive infectious diseases streams:
- Stream 1 – Strengthening the capacity and resilience of Indigenous populations in infectious diseases and climate-sensitive health through projects developed by and with First Nations, Inuit and Métis populations
- Stream 2 – Collect evidence and raise awareness to take action against climate-sensitive diseases
FPMICC-supported projects will help raise awareness among Canadians and partner organizations about actions they can take to reduce the risk of infectious diseases, adapt to a changing climate, become more resilient, and ultimately our health and well-being to improve.
