the French O Canada buried the English O Canada

While all eyes were on Paris and the Summer Olympics over the past two weeks, the best ice hockey players under the age of 18 were in Edmonton for the presentation of the 33rd edition of the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.

In fact, in recent weeks, the best prospects from each country have competed for the next draft and even the next NHL drafts (with the exception of the United States, which for some reason does not send its best prospects).

Of course, I imagine that you all knew that this very important tournament has taken place in recent years. Right? #Sarcasm

In short, this tournament is much less followed and noticed than the others, considering that the United States has a rather mediocre lineup and Canada has won 25 of the 33 editions.

This 25th title also came about last night when Canada won the final 2-1 against the Czech Republic.

What caught everyone’s attention, however, was the Canadian national anthem that was sung after the game.

As all the players sang together with their gold medals around their necks, it was β€œΓ” Canada” in French that echoed throughout Rogers Place in Edmonton.

As we heard, the four Quebec players representing Canada at the tournament (Caleb Desnoyers, Γ‰mile GuitΓ©, Alex Huang and Lucas Beckman) sang the national anthem in French.

Above all, the young Caleb Desnoyers from Sainte-Hyacinthe can be heard in the video and is particularly proud to sing in French.

In short, it was truly a beautiful moment on the ice, with all the players smiling as they heard Desnoyers sing the national anthem so loudly and proudly in French.

It’s not every day that French East Canada buries English East Canada.
