The Montreal Canadiens traded Russian forwards on Sunday morning, sending Evgenii Dadonov to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Denis Gurianov.
The Habs keep 50% of Dadonov’s $5M salary until the end of the campaign. The 33-year-old veteran will be a full free agent at the end of the season.
Gurianov, meanwhile, is making $2.9 million this season. He will be a restricted free agent next summer.
The 6-foot-3 right winger, 25, has struggled attackingly in 2022-23 after recording just nine points, including two goals, in 43 games.
Gurianov excelled in the 2020 playoffs when he had 17 points, including nine goals, in 27 games. You can also see the video above his goal in overtime that allowed the Stars to advance to the Stanley Cup final.
Returning to Dadonov, he had 18 points, including four goals, in 50 games with the Habs. He was signed to the Vegas Golden Knights for Shea Weber’s contract last summer.
By joining the Stars, Dadonov will wear the colors of a fifth team in the Bettman circuit. He also played for the Florida Panthers and the Ottawa Senators.
