The Canadian team defeats New Zealand for the first time in their history

The Canadian rugby union players ended the Pacific Four Series in the most beautiful way on Sunday. They were crowned tournament champions by defeating the New Zealanders, who were playing at home, 22-19 for the first-ever win in Canadian program history against the Black Ferns.

The Maple Leaf representatives completed the Pacific Four Series with three wins in as many games. They had defeated the Americans 50-7 and the Australians 33-14 in recent weeks. On Sunday they met the reigning world champions at the Apollo Projects Stadium in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Thanks to Sophie de Goede, the Canadians were the first to take the court, but their opponents then scored two tries to take a 14-3 lead. A try from Fancy Bermudez, followed by a convert from De Goede, brought the score to 14-10 before halftime.

The second half was a matter for the Canadians, who took an eight-point lead in the 60th minutee minute of the game and remained in the lead until the end of the game. Alexandra Tessier was thrown in, she kicked the ball, the whistle blew and the celebrations began.

Pamphinette Buisa, Laetitia Royer, Fabiola Forteza and Justine Pelletier were the other Quebecers in uniform for the occasion.

To add to the fun, Britain’s Tyson Beukeboom shot a 68e Met with the national team and became the most selected Canadian in history.

Canada had already qualified for the WXV tournament, which will be held in Vancouver this summer, and with this victory climbed to second place in the world rankings.
