Before taking on the Rangers at the Bell Center tonight, the Canadian had a nice surprise for fans and former players who have marked the team’s history.
Fifteen members of the Canadiens team that won four straight Stanley Cups (1976-79) are in attendance tonight, including Bob Gainey, Yvan Cournoyer, Serge Savard And Ken Dryden.
The CH legends were warmly welcomed by the fans on site, a feeling that certainly brought back fond memories.
A decade of reign. In nine seasons, they won six Stanley Cups and six conference titles.
The Canadiens have had several dynasties, but this spectacular run in a post-expansion NHL and especially these four straight Cup victories make these nine years of the Montreal Canadiens’ existence the greatest dynasty in the NHL and probably the greatest in the history of North American sports.

The 1976-77 team, often considered one of the best in NHL history, finished the regular season with a stunning 60-8-12 record. The Canadiens’ offensive prowess, led by Lafleur and Schutt, combined with Dryden’s excellent goaltending and a nearly impenetrable defense, made them nearly unbeatable.
