The Canadian is without strikers Lias Andersson and Philippe Maillet

Maillet, 30, is attempting a return to North America after spending the last two seasons with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL. Last season he scored 22 times and had 31 assists for 53 points in 66 games.

The Quebec native was never drafted into the NHL. He played in two games for the Washington Capitals during the 2020-21 season and did not get on the scoresheet. He agreed to a two-way, one-season pact this summer.

Andersson, 24, also signed a one-year contract in July. The center has appeared in 110 NHL games for the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings. He scored a total of seven goals and 17 points.

Andersson was selected seventh overall in the 2017 draft and had his best season in the AHL in 2022-23. He scored 31 goals and collected 59 points in 67 games for the Ontario Reign.

Nicolas Beaudin, Lucas Condotta, Brady Keeper and Mitchell Stephens had suffered the same fate the day before. They went undrafted and will therefore attend Rocket training camp.

The Canadian will play his fifth and penultimate preseason game against the Maple Leafs on Monday in Toronto.
