The Montreal Canadiens placed forwards Lucas Condotta and Mitchell Stephens and defensemen Nicolas Beaudin and Brady Keeper on waivers with the intention of trading them to the Laval Rocket if they go unclaimed.
The 31 other NHL teams have until 2 p.m. Sunday to claim one of the players.
The Rocket, the Canadian farm club in the American Hockey League, will begin camp on Monday.
Condotta, Stephens and Beaudin all wore Rocket colors last winter. Keeper was signed as a free agent this summer. He played for the Abbotsford Canucks last season and collected 1 goal and 5 assists in 35 games.
Stephens is 26 years old. He scored 20 goals and 21 assists in 68 games for the Rocket in 2022-23. A second-round pick (33rd overall) of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015, he played 72 games in his NHL career and recorded 3 goals and 10 assists.
Condotta, 25, was never drafted into the NHL. At the end of the campaign last spring, he played his first game with the Habs and hit the target. He had 16 goals and 15 assists in 72 games with the Rockets last season.
Beaudin was acquired by the Habs from the Chicago Blackhawks on October 26 in exchange for Cam Hillis.
The 23-year-old Quebecer scored 2 goals and 23 assists in 39 games with the Rocket. A first-round pick (27th overall) of the Blackhawks in 2018, Beaudin played 22 NHL games with that team, scoring 2 goals and 4 assists.
The goalkeeper is 27 years old. He was never drafted into the NHL and played two games on the Bettman circuit for the Florida Panthers without scoring a goal.
In addition, Quebecer Alex Belzile, a former Canadian player signed by the New York Rangers this summer, was placed on waivers and ineligible on Friday.
