Facing the carnage that continues in his practice, the Canadian challenged center Chris Tierney on Thursday.
Tierney, 28, established himself as a reliable and valued forward with the San Jose Sharks and then the Ottawa Senators. In 2018/2019 he had the best season of his career in the federal capital with 48 points in 81 games. However, his star has since faded and he found himself without a contract last summer.
The Florida Panthers signed him, but he has played more in the American League (20 games) than in the NHL (13) since the start of this season. The Panthers also submitted it to waivers on Wednesday to give it to the Charlotte Checkers, their school club.
In 2022-2023 he scored 3 points in 13 games in a very limited role – surpassing the Ice Age 10-minute mark just four times. Under his current deal, he’s earning $750,000 and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
