The Canadian Chamber of Commerce announced the creation of a council responsible for setting public policy on artificial intelligence (AI).
According to the chamber, the council will work to ensure that government policy focuses on the responsible development, deployment and ethical use of AI in business.
The 30-member Future of AI Council is co-led by e-commerce giant Amazon and software company SAP Canada.
Other members include Meta Platforms, Google, BlackBerry, Cohere, Scotiabank and Microsoft.
According to the chamber, the council will support government policies that make AI a positive economic driver while recognizing the risks of the technology.
One of his first tasks will be to examine Bill C-27, with which the federal government aims to limit some of the dangers that AI could cause.
