Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron will miss Game 2 of the first round series against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night at TD Garden.
Absent from the opening of the playoffs, however, the number 37 donned his skates to practice alone at the organization complex before the start of the morning session.
Bergeron walked out of the first third of the Bruins’ last regular-season game last Thursday against the Canadiens in Montreal with an upper-body injury.
The Bruins later said he was ill while missing practice on Saturday and Sunday. Nonetheless, head coach Jim Montgomery clarified on Wednesday that the Quebecer’s absence is indeed linked to an injury.
Even without Bergeron, the Bruins remain big favorites against the Panthers. The Montgomery side secured a 3-1 win in the first game and will look to double their lead before heading to Sunrise.
For the Panthers, coach Paul Maurice relies on goalkeeper Alex Lyon again.
The game will be broadcast at 7:30pm on TVA Sports and on TVA Sports Direct.
