The audience wants the series from the next season

The Montreal Canadiens team should aim for participation in the NHL playoffs next season, TVASports.ca readers believe.

At least that’s according to a survey, which is not particularly scientific and was published from April 17th to 30th on TVASports.ca.

On the question “Next season, the Canadiens’ staff will…», 59.02% of the 4026 respondents chose the answer “Aims for playoff participation“.

In contrast, 40.98% of respondents preferred the other option: “Continue rebuilding, even if it means missing the playoffs for the fourth straight year“.

So it’s not an overwhelming majority, but it seems that many of the team’s fans are getting tired of watching the team suffer losses, even if it means they get their hands on some interesting young players like Juraj Slafkovsky and David Reinbacher could, not to mention the one they will undoubtedly select in the next draft after going 28th overall in 2023-2024.

The Habs missed the playoffs for the third straight year this year. This is only the second time in its rich history, following droughts in the springs of 1999, 2000 and 2001.
