The Vancouver-based telecommunications giant said Flo will use its dedicated Internet of Things connectivity platform to provide real-time visibility of at least 60,000 charging stations across Canada and the United States over the next five years.
This is intended to enable Flo to monitor public and commercial charging stations and use the data received to remotely diagnose and provide support if products are not functioning properly.
Flo says its charging station network is operational about 98% of the time, while Telus says its network is 99.99% reliable.
Ali Barakat, vice president of business solutions for Quebec and the Atlantic at Telus, noted that given that all light vehicles sold in Canada should be zero-emission by 2035, the company wants to support the development of essential infrastructure.
Earlier this year, Telus announced a partnership with Australian electric vehicle charging company Jolt to install up to 5,000 public fast-charging stations across Canada that will operate on the Telus network.
