However, more and more Canadians – from all regions and all walks of life – are worried about their economic future.

As business leaders who care about our people and the communities in which we live and work, we are committed to working with government to strengthen Canada’s ability to compete globally for jobs, talent and investment, so that we can ensure future generations have the high quality of life and social programs that are the envy of people around the world.

That is why we have created the Task Force on Canada’s Economic Future.

A better future for Canadians

Canada’s economy faces major challenges, including an ageing population, low productivity and rising global protectionism. Slower long-term growth will inevitably lead to fewer opportunities for our children and grandchildren, higher unemployment rates and reduced funding for essential public services such as health care, education and public transportation.

Read the report and recommendations that outline how governments, businesses and other stakeholders can work together to strengthen Canada’s economic capacity, accelerate growth and stimulate investment for the benefit of all citizens. We also call on employers to enhance Canada’s human potential by promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, promoting mental health and supporting a more skilled and innovative workforce.
