Stroll suffers a terrible accident in qualifying

Qualifying for the Singapore GP is interrupted after Lance Stroll’s serious accident. The Canadian, who was injured between turns 18 and 19, immediately reassured his team over the radio.

Terrors on the Marina Bay route! Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) suffered a serious accident during the first qualifying session for the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday. If the Canadian quickly radioed about his health and left his car, the red flag was logically raised.

More fear than harm for Canadian Lance Stroll. As the Aston Martin driver came out of turn 18 before turning 19 and was about to complete his final lap in Q1, he lost control of his car and was the victim of a serious accident. His car was completely destroyed by the impact.

Lance Stroll reassured his team

The Canadian even lost the left front tire of his Aston Martin, which is normally held by very strong cables. The tire landed on the opposite side of the track. Oscar Piastri, McLaren driver, arrived just behind Lance Stroll and had no damage. The Australian was followed by a Ferrari. The red flag was raised immediately. Lance Stroll quickly reassured his team over the radio: “Yes, I’m fine.”

Qualifying was then interrupted after this accident. Lance Stroll, who therefore did not have time to complete his final lap, retired in Q1, as did Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo), Logan Sargeant (Williams) and Oscar Piastri (McLaren).
