Strike order for professional and technical health workers

The members of the Alliance of Professional and Technical Personnel in Health and Social Services (APTS), who are part of the staff of the Integrated Health and Social Services Center of Abitibi-Témiscamingue (CISSS-AT), have just received a strike mandate.

These union members voted by just over 89% for a strike order that could go as far as an indefinite general strike. The APTS represents around 1,700 members in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

These staff work in a variety of diagnostic, nutritional, psychosocial intervention and clinical support services.

The entire Common Front is currently holding its general meetings to obtain a strike vote, a strong mandate, to perhaps go on strike at some point, depending on how the situation develops at the negotiating table.states Carl Verreault, national representative of the APTS in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

As far as negotiations are concerned, there is no movement at the moment: the government is sticking to its offer of 9% over five years, while our members are in the process of being “impoverished” with this offer due to current inflation.he claims.
