The Laval Rocket overcame a four-goal deficit to triumph over the Belleville Senators 6-4 at Place Bell on Wednesday night.
The game started very badly for the American League’s farm club, the Montreal Canadiens, as the visitors scored four goals in the first period.
However, the crowd favorite’s comeback began before the end of the first third. Brandon Gignac hit the target with less than two minutes left in the third period.
The Quebecer was also involved in two of his teammates’ successes, those of Olivier Galipeau and Sean Farrell. Other Rocket scorers included William Trudeau, Tobie Bisson and Mitchell Stephens. It was the latter who scored the winning goal about six minutes before the end of the game.
Goalkeeper Jakub Dobes started. He allowed all of the goals for the “Sens” with 14 shots. Head coach Jean-François Houle decided to keep him on the bench in favor of Stauss Mann in the last two periods of the game. The American masked man was perfect in the 15 shots that his rivals sent his way.
Apparently on a mission, the Rocket players shot 32 pucks into the opposing net in the last two thirds of this encounter.
The Rocket will return to action this Friday when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms visit Laval. This will be the first game between the two teams in 2024-2024. The CH farm club then sets off on a six-game trip to the opposing ice rinks.
