Snapchat for the web is now available to everyone

Snapchat releases the desktop version of its app, Snapchat for the web, available to all users worldwide. Snapchat’s parent company, Snap, announced the news in a blog entry.

The company originally launched Snapchat for web in July for Snapchat+ subscribers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Now the desktop version is available for all Snapchat users.

With Snapchat for the web, users will be able to do this Send messages and snapsas well as chat via video and voice calls. Snapchat for the web also includes access to the mobile app’s messaging features, including chat reactions. Also, the app now offers 10+ lenses for video calls.

Similar to the mobile Snapchat experience, messages sent from Snapchat for web are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Snapchat for the web will also prevent people from taking screenshots.

However, the company is aware that people can still snap a picture of the screen from their smartphone as the product isn’t perfect yet.

Very easy access

To access Snapchat for the web, users should go web.snapchat.com and log in with their Snapchat username and password. Users are then prompted to complete a two-step verification on their smartphone. Once they open Snapchat for the web, they can pick up their conversations right where they left off on the mobile app.

On Snapchat for the web, a user’s Bitmoji will appear in chats holding a laptop to let others know they’re accessing the chat from your desktop computer. Also, the web version of the app includes a privacy screen that hides the Snapchat window when the user clicks it to perform another task.

Snap is currently working to bring key app features to the web. Nevertheless, The company plans to integrate the other features of the appincluding viewing Stories and Memories, coming to Snapchat for the web.

The global adoption of Snapchat for the web comes as the social media giant seeks to better compete with TikTok and Instagram, both of which are accessible through a web browser. Snapchat has also launched its own dual camera feature to capitalize on the recent popularity of photo-sharing app BeReal.
