Group leader Robert Hayes said in a statement that Steve Harwell fell asleep peacefully and comfortably Monday morning with his family and loved ones at his home in Boise, Idaho. The cause of death is acute liver failure.

Steve Harwell was a larger-than-life figure who rose into the sky like a Roman candle, Mr Hayes said. Steve is remembered for his unwavering focus and fierce determination to scale the heights of pop stardom.

Born in California in 1967, Steve Harwell played in a rap group called FOS (Freedom of Speech) before forming Smash Mouth in 1994.

The group has released two platinum-selling albums on the Interscope Records label. Fush Yu Mang, in 1997, powered by Ska, and astro lounge, in 1999. This second album featured some of the band’s biggest hits, including the platinum-selling single All Starnominated for the Grammy Awards, which we could hear in the film shrek, and their resumption I am a believer the monkeys.

Humor was a driving force behind the success of Smash Mouth, and Mr. Harwell’s voice and playful personality were paramount. He had an appearance in the 2001 comedy rat Breed and had a known friendship with chef and Food Network host Guy Fieri.

His greatest assets were his charm, his compelling charisma and his fearless ambition.said his impresario.

Steve Harwell left Smash Mouth in 2021 and the band continued to tour with Zach Goode on vocals. The group then released a statement claiming that Mr. Harwell had been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy eight years ago and had been serious and ongoing health problems, including heart failure and acute Wernicke’s encephalopathy.

Mr Hayes had released a statement on Sunday saying Mr Harwell was in hospice care.

Steve Harwell is cremated in Boise and buried with his mother in San Jose, California.
