Canadian Denis Shapovalov lost in the third round of the French Open in Roland-Garros on Saturday in four sets with 6:3, 7:6(0), 4:6 and 6:1 against Pole Hubert Hurkacz.
It was a duel that began the day before and was interrupted by rain. Shapovalov lost the first two rounds, which caused a real crisis for him. The 25-year-old tennis player had suffered several violent racket blows to the head.
The break certainly helped “Shapo” come back to his senses, as he regained his confidence by winning the third set, but Hurkacz’s consistency with the balls (72% on first serve and 79% on first serve) caused his downfall.

Shapovalov still had a good run at Porte d’Auteuil, beating local hero Luca Van Assche in the first round before defeating the strong 25th seed Frances Tiafoe in four rounds.
Hurkacz, number 8 in the world, will face the winner of the duel between Grigor Dimitrov and Zizou Bergs in the round of 16 of the event.
For Andreescu there is nothing better
Canadian Bianca Andreescu suffered a similar fate, being defeated in the third round by Italian Jasmine Paolini 6:1, 3:6, 6:0.
Part of the duel was actually played in the rain, which has caused all sorts of problems in the organization of the tournament for several days.
Having not played in a tournament since the National Bank Open in August last year, Andreescu looked good on her return before facing Paolini, offering 12 break points to the Italian in a rather inconsistent manner, who took the opportunity to steal serve six times.
The Ontario native also only scored 20 points in reception, which was clearly inconsistent.
This is the first time the 28-year-old, seeded 12th, has reached the round of 16 at the event. She will face Russian Elina Avanesyan in the next round.
