Sexual and reproductive health: Canadian ambassador welcomes efforts by Ivorian authorities

Launched in April 2020, the project entitled “Educational package necessary for equal sexual and reproductive health so that you can become the master of your well-being and free of your choices” ended on September 14, 2023 with a closing ceremony in Abidjan. Special guest of this event is Anderson Blanc, Ambassador of Canada to Ivory Coast, praised the determination and excellent work of Care International and the authorities in implementing the said project. It was in the present Administrative and political authorities, partners and civil society organizations (CSOs).

In fact, the project “Shared education necessary for equal sexual and reproductive health, to be in control of one’s own well-being and to make free decisions” is part of improving access to health services. Sexual and Reproductive and Related Rights (SSRD).

The focus is on women and adolescent girls, including people with disabilities in Ivory Coast. It was asked carried out by Care International Côte d’Ivoire thanks to funding from Global Affairs Canada (Amc) from April 2020 to August 2023, i.e. three (3) years.

This project, according to Fouda Ghislaine, Country Director of Care Côte d’Ivoire, highlighted best practices and lessons learned, contributing to reproductive health advocacy in Côte d’Ivoire.

The aim was to improve the gender and youth-appropriate provision of comprehensive sexuality education in the Gbêkê region, more precisely in the Béoumi department.

Several strategic axes were developed for Yao N’Dri, project manager. This includes, among other things, the integration of social participation with active social mobilization of men, boys, women and girls, including people with disabilities in the SSRD. With a view to positive social transformation in the target region.
