Seven players drafted by the 3Ls, including a former Canadian

The Rivière-du-Loup 3L challenged seven players in the last LNAH draft session this weekend in Lévis. The last few days have also been busy for the organization with a number of transactions including one (Saturday) which brought Maxime Guyon back into their ranks.

With his first-round pick, the second overall win, 3L General Manager Fabien Dubé decided to back forward William Lemay. The 24-year-old athlete played 14 games for the Trois-Rivières Lions last season. He previously spent four years in the NCAA at the University of Vermont.

In the first round, the 3Ls got defender Marc-Antoine Pépin, who has been playing for the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL for the last few months. The 6-foot-4 full-back also has a long track record in the QMJHL, playing primarily for the Shawinigan Cataractes and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

The Louperivoise organization then made a selection that pleased many supporters, including those from New Brunswick. The team has acquired the rights of forward Mika Cyr from Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska. The attackingly gifted 23-year-old athlete averaged one point per game in the QMJHL. Today it is part of the University of Moncton. The only downside: He still has a few years of eligibility to play. If he came to Rivière-du-Loup, it would be longer-term.

The next choices were forward Vincent Milot-Ouellet (UQTR), Nicolas Guay (Trois-Rivières Lions), defender Yann-Félix Lapointe (Université de Moncton) and… Mathieu Perreault, ex-NHL and Canadiens from Montreal.

The 35-year-old athlete, who has played in more than 700 NHL games, is a step backwards for the organization. However, the risk would be calculable since it was a 5th round election.

Finally, it should be noted that striker Maxime Guyon, who previously belonged to the 3L, has returned after a transaction that notably sent Mathieu Guertin to the Pétroliers du Nord de Laval. Although the latter liked Rivière-du-Loup, he wanted to get closer because of his work. Guyon has 68 points in 76 games in the LNAH.
