When we talk about the best goaltenders in Montreal Canadiens history, we must never forget the proud accomplishments the former goaltender put on Ken Dryden.
Actually the Instagram account @nhlbreakers told the rather unbelievable story of Dryden’s career.
“Ken Dryden: The player who quit because the sport was too easy.
Dryden, who sets the all-time save percentage record with him Dominik Hasek, only played seven full seasons in the NHL because he found it too easy and wanted to look at more “challenging” jobs. »
Dryden took a full season off to work full-time at a law firm just two years into his career. He then returned to the NHL, winning four of the next five Stanley Cups and the Vézina Trophies (awarded to the best goaltender).
He retired in his prime and became a teacher, sportswriter, lawyer and politician. He taught at the University of Toronto and at McGill University, among others.
Dryden ended his career with a ridiculous 74.3% win rate, 46 shutouts and just 57 losses.
One of the most spectacular stories in NHL history. »
It’s just amazing to see that Dryden has nearly as many absentees as career absentees. During his seven-season career, he won six Stanley Cups and five Vezina Trophies. This shows the dominance he had over the rest of the NHL.
