Seduce Steven Stamkos thanks to head coach Martin St-Louis? This is the new, somewhat crazy dream of Montreal Canadiens fans as the star forward prepares to take to the air on July 1st.
During Tony Marinaro’s podcast, a journalist assigned to cover the Tampa Bay Lightning recalled that Stamkos has great respect for St-Louis, his former teammate with the Florida team.
“Steven has a high regard for St. Louis,” said Tampa Bay Times reporter Eduardo A. Encina. In many ways, he was her greatest mentor. He taught him to be a leader and to win. The two men are very, very close.
Another former St-Louis teammate, Vincent Lecavalier, also works in the Canadiens organization as a special advisor for hockey operations.
Otherwise, the players include David Savard, who won the Stanley Cup with Stamkos and the Lightning in 2021.
The 34-year-old Stamkos didn’t slow down much last season, collecting 81 points, including 40 goals, in 79 games. In the playoffs he got six points in five games, including five goals.
