Has Netflix renewed The Recruit for a second season?
Official renewal status: Waiting for
Our current extension forecast: 50/50
Although we’ve heard positive rumors from Canadian production sources that they plan to proceed with a second season in a month, Netflix has yet to officially refresh or comment on the future the recruit.
As you may know, Netflix doesn’t publicly disclose the criteria by which its series are renewed or canceled, but there is ample evidence of the parameters that influence renewal decisions.
If you like the series and want it to be renewed, it’s best to watch it to the end and encourage others to do the same.
Have the cast or crew spoken about Season 2 so far? Alexi Crawley indicated that talks have taken place, or at least there is a plan.
In an interview with Collider, Hawley discussed his attitude towards future iterations early in season one, saying:
“I know things about where I would like to take her and where I would like to take her. I mean, of course you hope for success, but as you could see by this ending, I didn’t plan on failing because I feel like in our time you just have to be brave, you have to be dramatic, at the expense of everything else . And you don’t have to worry about Season 2, Season 3 or more. You must be asking yourself, “What’s the best version of this story right now?” And believe that people will come to her. And then you have one more chance. »
We would like to point out that since the start of The Recruit, Noah Centineo has started a production company called Arkhum Productions.

First, let’s look at the hourly data released so far by Netflix’s top 10 site.
So far, the series has premiered in the five weeks since its launch. In total, the series has logged 228.26 million viewing hours worldwide.
period of the week | Viewed Hours (M) | rank | week in the top 10 |

Weeks 2 and 3 will be crucial so we’ll be keeping an eye on week 3 despite an 83% surge.
As we’ve said before, one of the potential flaws of the series is that it’s down 55% in week 3. We have observed that shipments with a drop of more than 50% sometimes struggle to be renewed.
So how does it compare to its competitors in terms of CVE hours (full viewing equivalent – Netflix’s raw hours divided by series length)?
According to our top 10 reports for 2022 (with some estimates in game), we see The Recruit firmly at the tipping point of cancellations. Only in the extension table below Mon had fewer hours and was publicly renewed.
How was the first launch in terms of CVE? The series slightly outperformed The Lincoln Lawyer early on, but fell just behind. The Sandman and Vikings: Valhalla.
Then there’s Nielsen’s data, which tracks minutes watched in the US, although they release their data a month later.
This is how the listening hours are divided up so far:
- Week 1 – Dec 12 – 18 – #5 this week – 15.42 million hours.
- Week 2 – Dec 19 – 25 – #4 this week – 28.25 million hours
Data from FlixPatrol, which surveys Netflix’s daily top 10, suggests the series peaked in the global top 10 for its first four and five days, but has since held steady for that period. The series stayed in many global top 10s for up to a month after its release.

The data comes from external sources (also called query sources) such as Twitter, Wikipedia, Google and Reddit.
The only shows more popular than the recruit was on Netflix during the first week of the series The White Lotus at HBO, Wednesday to Netflix, 1923 at Paramount+ and yellowstone at Paramount Networks.
Data as of Jan. 19 suggests the show peaked at number four, but has since fallen below the top 100 shows.
What to expect the recruit season 2
Let’s briefly recap the events of Season 1.
In Episode 8, titled WTFIOH (which is an acronym for Who the F*ck Is Owen Hendricks?), the mission to bring Max back to Russia continues and just as things seem to be coming to an end, complications arise. We also witness the conflict between Owen’s personal and professional life.
Season 1 ends with a big twist: Karolina shoots Max, but is she dead? This will no doubt be the fundamental question to be answered in Season 2.
In the end, Owen asks Hannah on a date abroad, which concludes the series.
RadioTimes is speculating that we’ll see the return of Noah Centineo in a second season, as will Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn and Fivel Stewart. They also predict the same as we do that “Owen Hendricks will be thrown into another high-stakes mission, although this time he may be a little better prepared for the experience.”
We’ll keep you updated on everything the recruit as soon as we know more. In the meantime, let us know in the comments if you’d like to see season 2 of the recruit on Netflix in the comments below.
