Collaboration and pooling of services are important resources for small communities where the economic vitality index is lower. That’s why Quebec on Wednesday announced more than $3 million in aid to support 14 intercommunal projects.
The announcement was made at a press conference by Minister for Local Affairs Andrée Laforest on Wednesday. She was accompanied by all the elected caquists of the region except for Jonquière’s deputy, Yannick Gagnon.
The grant of US$3,073,057 is from the Revitalization and Intercommunal Cooperation Support Program: Ax Coopération intermunicipale de Québec. The aim of the program is to promote resource pooling agreements between small communities. According to Secretary Laforest, the current socio-economic context makes this type of financial support consistent.
We talk a lot about the labor shortage, so here we can allocate resources and share resources MRCIn municipalities, it can also involve the use of devices. It can also be about providing services to the population
She explains.
The fourth MRC in the region will receive $250,000 for various projects. THE MRC du Domaine-du-Roy, Maria-Chapdelaine and Lac-Saint-Jean East will allocate this amount to the engineering services of their communities.
Several municipalities received the same amount for the bundling of services. On the Saint-Fulgence side, the money will be used to hire a joint fire safety resource with Saint-Honoré, Saint-David-de-Falardeau and Sainte-Rose-du-Nord. In addition, the administrative services for Saint-Fulgence and Sainte-Rose-du-Nord will be bundled. Eventually, Saint-Félicien will use the money to pool maintenance of the trails in the Crown Regional Park.
