Outgoing MP Roland Lescure will be re-elected as MP for the 1st constituency of French expatriates today. Mr. Lescure is Chairman of the Economic Commission of the National Assembly; He was also spokesman for Emmanuel Macron’s presidential campaign and possible minister.
First Results: The two candidates got a pretty close result in the polling stations, with Mr. Lescure in the lead, but at the level of your electronics, Roland Lescure is clearly in the lead:
Result of the 1st constituency of French expatriates:
– Roland Lescure (ensemble / LREM): 55.6%
30221 votes
– Florence Roger (NUPES / LFI): 44.4%
24102 votes
Reaction from Roland Lescure:
” I wholeheartedly thank the voters who have placed their trust in me for a second term.
It is the first time since there have been expatriate MPs that a majority of those leaving have managed to be re-elected for a second term. This is proof that the vision of the President of the Republic is shared by the vast majority of our compatriots abroad.
I would like to congratulate Florence Roger on a very good campaign and I think we managed to confront our projects with the voters while respecting the democratic debate.
Now at work: to further reform the country and to implement the proposals for French expatriates that we drew up during the campaign, in particular to make their lives easier through faster and more efficient administration. »
National result: The Macronists in the lead, but without an absolute majority
Never before has a newly elected President of the Fifth Republic had such a small victory: Emmanuel Macron will not have an absolute majority, but “only” 210 to 250 MPs. The NUPES alliance comes in second, but with fewer MPs than expected: Jean-Luc Mélanchon does not become Prime Minister as hoped, but 150 to 180 MPs. And it is even the National Rally – which was not in an alliance – that will be the first opposition group (before LFI): Marine Le Pen could have almost 100 MPs.
Behind them, Les Républicains (LR) are fighting back a bit. It must be said that they had a large number of incumbents. They will likely be able to support a group of 70 to 80 MPs.
For Emmanuel Macron, this result is serious because some of his ministers and lieutenants were shipwrecked that evening: Jean-Michel Blanquer, Christophe Castaner, Amélie de Monchalin, Brigitte Bourguignon and even the outgoing President of the National Assembly, Richard Ferrand, not re-elected.
